This LovelySkin video shows you how to melt-proof your makeup.

Heat and humidity are known to cause sweating, shine, and, worst of all, caked-on makeup. You’re probably looking for ways to look cool and stay cool during the hottest part of summer. Follow Kristen as she demonstrates how to meltproof your makeup.

Start with a foundation that will not move. Primers help your makeup, tinted moisturizer, or BB cream to stay on all day. Primers are also designed with ingredients that smooth out the skin to make other products more uniform and can minimize imperfections. Primer formulas are available for all skin types and needs, but we recommend mattifying formulations for the summer to control shine and oil.

GloFace Primer by Glo Minerals is a clear gel that glides on smoothly to reduce the appearance of pores, fine wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. It contains antioxidants like green tea and vitamins A, C, and E to protect from environmental stressors.

Kristen likes Youngblood Mineral Primer. This lightweight, silky primer is full of vitamins and minerals and helps create a smooth foundation surface.

We recommend cream- or liquid based base products when it comes to selecting a makeup. Powder can help to matte shine, but it is also prone to rubbing off and tends to cake on moist skin. The BB cream or foundation will “melt” on the skin and create a natural, dewy appearance. Jane Iredale GlowTime Full Coverage Mineral Bb Cream is a LovelySkin favorite. This BB Cream not only adds a touch of warmth to the skin but also provides antioxidant protection. It has an SPF 25. You can achieve a sheer to medium coverage by applying it over primer.

Stick to cream formulas on the cheeks, too, in order to avoid caking or uneven application. If you want to achieve a contoured or strobed look, use cream-based highlighter and bronzer. For the apples of your cheeks, choose a cream blush like Youngblood Luminous Creme Bronzing.

We’ve got you covered. To prolong the look, apply eyeshadow primer first, just as you would for your face. You can choose a lid primer at LovelySkin, or you can use concealer on your lids to act as a primer. Do not forget to use a small amount of primer along the bottom lashline, especially if wearing liner.

The same rule applies to eyeshadow. Powders can look cakey, fade, or end up outside of the eye area if they are mixed with oil and sweat. Jane Iredale EyeShere Liquid eye Shadow goes on transparent and is water-resistant. It helps you build up pigment. The shimmery finish makes it perfect for summer. With fun colors such as Aqua Silk and Champagne Silk, you can create a variety of looks.

Try a gel eyeliner instead of a pencil for defining your eyes. Gel eyeliners have more pigment and are less likely to smudge. Youngblood Incredible Wear Gel Liner is available in five colors that are highly pigmented and water-resistant to enhance the shape of your eyes. Apply it quickly and easily with an eyeliner brush.

Set your makeup with a setting spray to keep it in place. Kristen uses glo mineral Revive Hydration mist, which contains a blend of rosemary and peppermint that stimulates and revitalizes the senses.
