Valentine’s Day offers the perfect opportunity to take your makeup routine to the next level and rock that bold red lipstick you’ve always wanted to wear. We’ve got three simple makeup tutorials to help you enhance your natural beauty and impress your loved ones.
Makeup Tutorial No. 1 – Galentine’s Night Out
Celebrate sweetheart’s Day with your best girlfriends, and you can be as bold with your makeup as you like. This look features an elegant matte pink lip with a subtle shimmery shadow that seamlessly transforms into a daring smoky eye.
Step 2- For a perfectly pink matte lip color that will last all night, use bareMinerals’ Statement Matte Liquid lipstick in OMG. This creamy-to-matte lip color glides on easily without leaving any residue. Plant-based waxes moisturize lips so that paint doesn’t flake or crease as you dance the night away. Use the flexible applicator to fill in the lips and achieve the desired color.
Pro tip: To reduce color transfer, wait a minimum of ten minutes before eating or drinking.
Step 3 – Give your eyes a sequin shine by using a silvery liquid eye shadow such as Stila Magnificent Metallics Glitter and Glow Liquid Shadow – Duo Chrome Perlina. This shadow is paraben and sulfate-free and has a light texture that minimizes glitter fallout. Apply the shadow at the corner of the inner eyelid, and then work outwards, almost to the outer edge.
Step 2- Don’t worry if you don’t know how to apply eyeshadow. Choose a palette that has dark shades, such as The Youngblood Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad in Desert Dreams. This palette has a variety of matte, smoky shades to help you achieve the look you want. To create this smoky, cat-eye look, use an angled shadow brush to draw the cat eye (we recommend Small Angled Brush #13). The second darkest shade from your palette should be applied to the middle of your eyelid. Sweep it up and out, creating your top wing. Apply the same shade using the same brush at the outer corner of your eye, and then sweep it up to meet the leading edge. Use the same dark eyeshadow to fill in the top wing. Blend it gently with a fluffy brush. Do not forget to lightly smudge your shadow under your eyelashes for a smoky effect.
Makeup Tutorial # 2 – Family Night In
Are you looking forward to a family night at home on Valentine’s Day? This natural makeup look is all about hydrated skin and neutral, universally flattering shades.
Step 2 If your skin is still dry and flaky in February, then you are not alone. Start by moisturizing your skin with a multitasking tinted moisturizer such as COOLA Rosailliance Organic SPF 30. This mineral sunscreen contains rose actives for antioxidant benefits. The light rose scent makes it the perfect Valentine’s Day pick. Apply by dispensing one pump on the back of your hands and rubbing it onto your face. Start in the middle and work your way out.
Pro tip: To achieve an “airbrushed” appearance, apply the BB cream using your favorite foundation brush.
Step 3 – Add a bit of drama to this natural makeup by using mascara, which lengthens the lashes. Jane iIredale’sLongest Lash Thickening & Lengthening Mascara, Black Ice, helps thicken your natural lashes and nourishes any brittle hairs. Apply several coats on both the tops of your lashes and the bottoms, beginning at the base and wiggling through the spoolie to the ends.
Step 4 Apply a cream eyeshadow to add a little hydrating shine. Au Naturale Anywhere CremeMultistick in Palermo was chosen and applied to the entire eyelid. What’s the best part? This multi-stick creme is formulated using meadowfoam seeds, jojoba oils, and lavender oils to nourish delicate eye skin.
